She's Soooo Easy

Going to bed, I'm prepping Rama for the following day.

Me: Rama, tomorrow, we're going to do laundry, then lunch, then we'll take the subway, there's just one thing I have to do. And then after all that, we can do whatever you want. We can go to the zoo, the park - anything.
Rama: OK.

The following morning, upon waking up, she says, sleepily: Mommy, I don't want anything. We can do whatever YOU want.

She made no demands that day. I got to do all my errands. But when we found ourselves in H&M later in the day and she saw ballet slippers that she wanted to buy, she held me to my word.

Rama: Can I buy this?
Me: Today is just for looking, Rama. We're not getting anything.
Rama: But last night you said I can do whatever I want!
Me: I said we can DO whatever you want - not BUY whatever you want.
Rama: Oh. Ok.

I'm not sure what, exactly, but I must've done something right with this child.

yup, rama is one of a kind, especially when you know other kids her age. its like, kids these days just ask for things and if you dont give it to them, they freak out! they even get mad at their parents!

hay, not a day passes by that we dont about her. pepper also said that when we have a child of our own, papadala daw nya sayo para maging kasing bait ni rama! haahaha!

miss you guys so much!

Hey, shred! My original title was something like that - how many 5 year-olds are as selfless and concerned for others as this one? She has so much empathy and generosity. She is truly a gift.
We miss you guys so much. rama always looks at her Pilipinas pictures. when she finishes with all of them, she sighs, hay, miss ko pilipinas.

yup...whatever it may be..you did something right to be able to have a kid who understands so well at such a young age. I hope I'll do something right to make my kid the same way too. :) More blessing for you and Rama!

Hey, Jing. I loved the name you picked for your baby - Zye. One of my best buddies in grade school had the same name, though spelled differently. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! Sweet niyo ni deng :-)

Thanks, margaux. Yes, she is my angel. Sometimes, quiet na lang ako when other moms here at the office cry and bitch about their kids - and i say a silent thank-you that mine is the way she is.
